The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced that $633 million in first-of-its-kind funding would be available to the state of Florida for disaster mitigation projects in areas impacted by presidentially declared disasters in 2016 and 2017. These funds are available through HUD’s newly created Community Development Block Grant - Mitigation (CDBG-MIT) and will be used to fund disaster mitigation programs to better protect Florida from future disasters:
DEO has launched all of the CDBG-Mitigation Programs
1. Critical Facility Hardening Program (CFHP) ($75 Million) launched on April 15 with a submission deadline of June 30, 2020.
Staff requested approval from the Board of County Commissioners at their June 17, 2020 meeting to submit two grant applications for the CFHP. The following application were submitted to the Florida Department Economic Opportunity on June 23, 2020.

2. General Planning Support (GPS) ($20 Million) launched on May 15, 2020 with a submission deadline of July 30, 2020.
General Planning Support Grant Application submitted to DEO on July 28, 2020. Below is the submitted grant application. We are now awaiting notification from the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity.
3. General Infrastructure Program- Round 1 Funding (CDBG-MIT funding $475 Million) launched on June 15, 2020 with a deadline of September 14, 2020.
