Parks & Recreation Advisory Board

The Monroe County Board of Parks and Recreation is an advisory board created in 1983 by the Monroe County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) through Ordinance 018-1983. There are a total of five board members, who serve four-year terms. Each member represents a district and is appointed by the BOCC commissioner in that district. The duties of the advisory board include:

  • Periodically reviewing the facilities, programs, management, costs, expenditures, and revenues for existing park facilities.
  • Cooperating with other recognized and approved county recreational groups.
  • Making recommendations for improvements, additional facilities, recreational areas, and programs.

The advisory board meets quarterly and encourages public input at the meetings. The members are tasked with providing the Monroe County BOCC with a report of their activities and recommendations throughout the year.
